About

Young Yoo has been primarily active as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. She has given concerts throughout the United States and South Korea. She performed at Jordan Hall with Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of New England Conservatory and has given concerts at Gardner Museum in Boston, Paul Hall in NY, Zipper Hall in CA as well as Seoul Performing Arts Center and Kumho Arts Center in South Korea. She Participated Mozarteum Music Festival in Salzburg, Tanglewood Festival, Indiana Piano Festival and many other music festival throughout the world. 

Her many awards and honors include second prize in the Grace Welsh International Piano Competition, First prize in the Harvard Musical Association Competition, Kingsport Symphony Piano Competition, Orleans 20th century International Piano Competition in France and many other competitions throughout the United States and South Korea.

She had been a member of the Strada Trio since 2006 and she is a founding member and works as an artistic director in a non-profit organization, Confido Music Society. She’s been an active member of MTAC South Bay Branch and served as a director of Scholarship Audition of South Bay Branch.

Her students have won prizes at prestigious international and national competitions such as, American Protégé, Southwestern Youth Music Festival (SYMF), The Music Center Spotlight Awards, Southern California Junior Bach Festival (SCJBF), San Jose International Piano Competition, Great Composers Competitions, Cypress College Piano Competition, Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale Bach Competition (AVSOMC), Steinway Piano Competition, Classics Alive Auditions, Pelican International Music Competition, MTAC West Los Angeles and South Bay branch festivals and competitions.

A native of South Korea, Young Yoo received both the Bachelor's and the Master's degrees as a scholarship student from the Juilliard School in New York as a student of Yoheved Kaplinsky. She attended high school at Walnut hill school of Arts and New England Conservatory Preparatory school in Boston, MA where she studied with Wha Kyung Byun. In addition to performing, she has been an active teacher for over 20 years in Los Angeles and Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Frisco, TX and recently moved to Alpharetta, GA with her husband and two furry babies, Louie and Luna. She is currently working as a private music coordinator and private piano teacher at Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, GA as wells as teaching privately in her own studio.
